Are you receiving collection calls and letters for medical bills? You may not owe that debt...

We've posted before about balance billing, a practice where a medical provider bills a patient over and above the amount of the patient's deductible, coinsurance, and copay. Balance billing is against the law in Mississippi, but medical providers are doing it anyway.

Things get worse when the medical provider sends these balance bills to collections agencies. The patient starts getting threatening phone calls and letters, and may even wind up sued as a result of the illegal bill. Frankly, the collection agencies should know better. Balance billing has been illegal in Mississippi for 6 years, after all.

If you have health insurance but have received collections letters or phone calls about medical bills, call us. We may be able to make the calls stop, and you may even be entitled to monetary compensation. The consultation is free!
